MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Shipboard Analytical Engineer to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This is an onsite position.
This role supports the U.S. Navy’s efforts on a portfolio of engineering services, specializing in the analysis of acoustic data and the support of shipboard measurement systems. The ideal candidate will apply engineering principles to real-world applications of submarine acoustic data analysis.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conduct analysis of acoustic measurements taken around submarines and surface ships
Create, improve, and maintain scripts (e.g., MATLAB, Python) used by data analysts and engineers to increase code efficiency and user-friendliness
Aid in the loading and installation of microphones, accelerometers, and other instrumentation on board submarines and ships ahead of acoustic trials
Write technical reports detailing analysis results and work with team members to present recommendations
Support modeling and simulation efforts related to fluid dynamics and hydrodynamics as required
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma with 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship experience accepted)
Demonstrated experience with scripting languages for data analysis (e.g., MATLAB)
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical findings
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Physics
Experience as a Submarine Onboard Acoustics Analyst or similar role within a Naval Surface Warfare Center.
Demonstrated ability to improve code efficiency and develop user-friendly analysis tools.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, or hydrodynamics (e.g., experience with Ansys Fluent).
Hands-on experience with the physical installation of test instrumentation (microphones, accelerometers) in a shipboard environment
Security Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. May have to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
Work in confined spaces and challenging environments, as required for submarine underway operations, maintenance and repair
The projected compensation range for this position is $65,000.00-$107,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
