MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Lexington Park, MD. This is an onsite position.
The Senior Systems Engineer will drive the development and sustainment of next-generation Navy Weapons Systems. They will serve as a technical linchpin, bridging the gap between complex engineering requirements and Navy Acquisition Processes. Working directly with the Integrated Program Team Lead (IPTL), they will influence the entire lifecycle of critical defense assets—from pre-Milestone A analysis to high-stakes rapid acquisition and legacy sustainment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Integrating new capabilities, defining system gaps, and establishing baseline requirements across the portfolio
Developing critical technical specifications, comprehensive system documentation, and long-term engineering roadmaps
Coordinating complex engineering activities throughout the design, integration, test, and fielding phases
Analyzing manufacturer proposals, conducting rigorous trade studies, and performing detailed technical reviews
Providing strategic risk management insight and mitigation strategies for complex systems
Collaborating with Government personnel, contractor teams, and subject-matter experts to ensure alignment with program objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with 10+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and automation tools such as CAMEO or IBM Rhapsody
Experience with systems engineering, research, development, and technical execution in schedule-constrained environments
Experience defining system gaps, establishing requirements, and developing technical documentation or roadmaps
Experience conducting formal trade studies, analyzing technical proposals, and managing engineering risks
Proficiency with standard enterprise productivity software and strong professional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP certification) or relevant engineering certifications
Self-starter with excellent people skills - able to work across teams, organize meetings/boards, and drive change throughout an organization
Clearance Requirements:
An active TS/SCI clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The projected compensation range for this position is $150,900.00-$268,500.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
