MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Platform Engineer to join MANTECHs Intelligent Engineering organization. The position is remote (US-based) with up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and optimize RHEL, CentOS, and Rocky server environments, focusing on kernel tuning and troubleshooting hardware-level interruptions
  • Develop and maintain complex Ansible roles and inventories to automate multi-node environments and debug failed playbooks
  • Utilize Python and Ruby to develop, maintain, and enhance various application services and API interactions
  • Automate repetitive CLI tasks and manage system processes through expert-level Unix shell scripting
  • Implement and manage virtualization solutions using KVM and QEMU to support scalable infrastructure needs
  • Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLAN tagging, bridge interfaces, and virtual switches
  • Lead STIG and CMMC compliance efforts to ensure all systems meet rigorous federal and defense security standards

Minimum qualifications:

  • 9+ years of relevant experience managing RHEL/CentOS/Rocky environments, specializing in kernel tuning, hardware-level interrupt troubleshooting, and deep-dive performance profiling to resolve system bottlenecks
  • Experience executing STIG and CMMC protocols
  • Expert in Ansible (roles/inventories) integrated with Terraform or OpenStack to orchestrate complex, full-stack underlying infrastructure
  • Proficient in Python, Ruby, and Java for backend service maintenance, API extension, and advanced Unix shell scripting for CLI automation
  • Hands-on expertise in KVM/QEMU and L2/L3 networking, including VLAN tagging, bridge interfaces, and virtual switch configuration
  • Proven ability to build CI/CD pipelines for automated multi-node deployment testing, supported by familiarity with Modeling & Simulation (M&S) standards

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven experience leading organizations through full CMMC Level 3+ certification cycles and architecting automated STIG compliance-as-code frameworks that reduce manual audit overhead by over 50%
  • Mastery of GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD or Flux) to manage large-scale Ansible and Terraform deployments, with a focus on building self-healing infrastructure and custom provider development
  • Expert-level capability in tuning Linux kernels for low-latency environments or Real-Time (RT) patches, specifically for Large Scale Modeling & Simulation (M&S) workloads requiring precise timing and hardware acceleration
  • Advanced ability to design and implement custom RESTful APIs and microservices in Python or Java that bridge legacy M&S protocols with modern, cloud-native orchestration layers

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The projected compensation range for this position is $137,100.00-$244,100.00.
