MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Principal Cloud Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
The Principal Cloud Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to design, implement, and manage secure Azure cloud infrastructures in support of mission-critical operations. This role focuses on security monitoring and threat detection, leveraging modern DevOps tools and practices to support complex cloud environments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supporting Azure cloud services and infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure cloud environments while implementing security best practices
Leveraging Azure data services including Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel to ensure security posture and compliance
Writing and maintaining automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI and executing them using Azure Functions
Configuring network security groups (NSGs), application gateways, and other network controls to protect cloud resources
Managing Azure compute, storage, networking, and database services to ensure complete and functioning systems
Applying security best practices and compliance standards while collaborating effectively across teams to address complex technical needs
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or 4+ additional years of IT experience in lieu of a degree
5+ years of experience in cloud engineering and/or development
Experience designing and deploying Azure-based solutions and working with DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps or Git
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible, or BICEP
Experience automating workflows using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, or JSON
Experience with cloud template technologies including Azure Resource Manager and GitHub Enterprise
DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+, SSCP) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Security Engineer Associate
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with other cloud platforms
Understanding of NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-37, and DoD Cloud Security Requirements Guide
Clearance Requirements:
An active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
The projected compensation range for this position is $141,500.00-$236,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
