MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Naval Engineering Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA. This is an onsite position.
The technician will serve as a senior technical authority supporting U.S. Navy small boats and craft, providing advanced engineering and lifecycle sustainment. In this role, you will lead complex troubleshooting efforts, support modernization initiatives, and ensure critical systems remain fully mission capable in dynamic operational environments. This requisition is for an In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) member with mechanical and structural expertise, to operate as an extension of the Government teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serving as a technical expert for troubleshooting, on-call assistance, system upgrades, maintenance and repair of boat systems and equipment at waterfront craft locations, primarily in the San Diego area and occasionally around the world.
Conducting boat surveys and inspections, assessments, hands-on BOATALT and LAR system validations and testing to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance with technical requirements
Supporting configuration control over dozens of boats, researching and updating technical documentation, supporting boats through availabilities and overhauls, and finding replacements for obsolete parts
Ensuring accurate tracking of technical findings and lifecycle data in accordance with program standards and providing new crew familiarization and sharing technical information with end-customers, empowering them to make repairs themselves.
Capturing drawing deviations, or redlined drawing updates, to ensure configuration control, and performing LAR reviews and validations, administering System Operability Verification Tests (SOVT), and completing boat checks.
Recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance system availability, readiness, and long-term sustainment effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
10+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting DoD or Navy engineering, maintenance, or technical programs
Significant experience reading, interpreting, and validating technical drawings, schematics, engineering change documentation, and system specifications
Extensive experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical, or networked systems
Focused experience with mechanical and structural issues such as analysis of aluminum hull repair, corrosion and pitting conditions; pipe fluid systems (e.g., fuel, hydraulic, cooling, bilge, and lube oil); heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; and propulsion drive configurations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy systems in a maintenance or senior fleet sustainment capacity, or work for boat builders or on private watercraft
Familiarity with fleet support processes, technical directives, maintenance data systems, and modernization programs
Experience supporting shipboard installations, integration testing, and operational validation events
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen and possess a current/active Secret Security Clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Needs to occasionally move about inside offices, shipboard spaces, or industrial environments to access equipment and systems.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The projected compensation range for this position is $71,100.00-$117,800.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
