MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Launch Site Training Systems Engineer to join our team at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), CA.

The Launch Site Training Systems Engineer will help protect our national security by providing critical training management, training system development, and project management for the U.S. Air Force and Space Force. You will play a vital role in ensuring mission success by supporting training and certification tools, materials, and processes, including the maintenance of databases, training records, and lesson plans related to Department of Defense programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, and updating unit training programs and materials for spacelift acquisitions and operations in accordance with DAFMAN 36-2689 and unit guidance.

  • Tracking updates to training requirements associated with personnel qualification and certification to ensure program compliance.

  • Evaluating and updating training products to comply with guidance contained in DAFH 36-2675 for instructional system design.

  • Assessing SLD 30 unit training against SLD 45 training to provide recommendations for updates that maintain consistency and gain efficiency.

  • Inspecting and maintaining individual training records within learning management systems and other online programs to ensure data accuracy.

  • Serving as the Unit Training Manager (UTM) and completing all associated training requirements to support the mission.

  • Evaluating on-console teams during rehearsals, exercises, and day of launch operations to provide lessons learned for improved effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience with training and training systems.

  • 5+ years of specific experience with NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD/DoW, or NASA training coordination.

  • Experience maintaining and updating individual training records across online/web-based record systems.

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex training documentation and performance evaluation reports.

  • Experience navigating unit training guidance to drive a security and operations agenda across large teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable and qualified to conduct unit training in accordance with DAF Instruction System Design.

  • Significant experience in the use of a variety of training databases and compliance automation tools.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing JIRA, Confluence, and Mattermost for project management and documentation.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $116,400.00-$194,900.00.
