MANTECH seeks a motivated, career customer-oriented Lead Fabrication Maintenance Technician to join our team in Panama City, FL. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead/perform fabrication, repair, and modification of LCAC weapon system and ground support equipment components using advanced metalworking techniques ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards.

  • Perform set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other precision machine tools.

  • Perform / oversee welding operations including Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

  • Oversee and perform precision welding on aerospace weapon system components using TIG, MIG, and other welding techniques.

  • Conduct structural repairs and modifications on aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium components.

  • Remove and install weapon system components including panels, fasteners, skins, and frameworks.

  • Operate tools such as shears, brakes, rivet guns, and hand tools in the fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication / welding requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environments

  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques, materials, and safety standards

  • Advanced knowledge of aerospace metals, composites, and repair procedures.

  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform layout and fabrication work.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical data and schematics.

  • Familiarity with military or aerospace fabrication maintenance standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a DoW aerospace, LCAC or equivalent weapon system fabrication environment.

  • Familiarity with military maintenance documentation systems.

  • Formal military or vocational training program in metals technology, structural repair (e.g., USAF 2A7X1, USAF 2A7X3 or other Military Service equivalent).

  • Certification in welding, machining, or other fabrication technical trades (e.g., AWS, NCCER)

  • Experience with CNC machining and CAD/CAM systems.

  • Familiarity with NAVSEA, USAF, or USN aerospace structural repair standards

Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required and an active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret before starting

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and work at elevated heights.

  • Must be able to move, lift, and position heavy aircraft components and tools (up to 50 lbs).

  • Frequently works in enclosed hangars or outdoor flight line environments with exposure to aircraft noise and environmental elements.

  • Must be able to work in various positions and locations including in and around a Navy LCAC and LCAC components.
