MANTECH seeks a motivated, forward-thinking and client-oriented Director of Internal Communications to join our team in Herndon, VA. This is a hybrid work schedule with office presence 3-5 days a week.
The Director of Internal Communications will develop, drive and establish comprehensive internal communications strategies. Operating with a high degree of executive presence and knowledge of the government market, this in-person role requires a visionary leader capable of aligning broad communications with business priorities, enhancing employee engagement and reinforcing company culture across complex hybrid work environments including corporate offices, secure government buildings and client sites.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Executive Advisor: Be a trusted advisor to senior leadership, identifying strategic needs and assisting with high-level message drafting, talking points and comprehensive enterprise-wide planning.
Corporate Storytelling: Serve as a master writer and high-impact architect of our corporate narrative, synthesizing technology-heavy information into materials that are compelling, accurate and amplify our unique, differentiated position in the marketplace.
High-Velocity Execution: Produce "front-page quality" content—from newsletters to deep-dive features—with absolute precision and creative flair under tight deadlines.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Bring together support teams and key stakeholders to ensure the correct, approved message is distributed flawlessly across the enterprise.
Modernization & AI: Inject automation and AI capabilities into the development and execution of communications assets and materials to streamline and speed workflows.
Project Management: Establish overarching strategies for broad communications and targeted announcements that support enterprise-wide teams and programs.
Channel Innovation: Evolve communication channels and multimedia formats (such as newsletters, videos, talking points/FAQs) to maintain appeal across a broad and diverse employee base.
Metrics & Analysis: Actively track communications metrics and analyze data to assess effectiveness and meet audience information needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in journalism, corporate communications or public relations within the government industry or technology field.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing.
Technical Writing: Ability to operate at the highest levels of journalism, distilling complex topics into compelling narratives for a technical workforce.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to translate high-level leadership visions into actionable narratives while maintaining "big picture" enterprise thinking.
Adaptability: Experience communicating within "cleared" or secure environments where traditional digital access may be limited.
Software: Proficiency in modern communications platforms and an interest in leveraging AI tools for content optimization.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or attend meetings in different locations.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
